the nato cable

for the start of the September 2020 school year, le gramme mounted the cylindrical clasp of its iconic cable bracelet on a nato bracelet.

The use of nato as an accessory originated from the world of watchmaking, in 1973. Traditionally, watch straps were made from leather and metal, but they showed several limitations during military missions.

In a tropical climate, leather bracelets were unpleasant to wear due to humidity and perspiration, while metal bracelets reflected too much light, making it easier for the enemy to spot men.

the British Ministry of Defense then ordered the manufacture of a bracelet in nylon, an almost indestructible material. this new watch strap took the name nato in reference to NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization, NATO in English), and to the military orders placed by the organization's member states to equip their soldiers.

available in three different colors (black, khaki and fluorescent orange), the nato cable is made up of the basic structure of the cable bracelet, its cylindrical clasp in polished 925 silver, attached to a braided nylon bracelet.

like all le gram jewelry, the nato cable lends itself to the games of accumulation and personalization, thus allowing everyone to make their design and aesthetic their own.
